Answer question 5 from page 170 of  Writing About Writing  (at the end of Young’s argument against code switching): “Young argues that asking black students to use a different language at school than they do at home is a form of racial segregation. Explain this argument.” Do you agree? Why or why not? I will say that i agree with his point. From my experiences with this, not in school but at work, sometimes  it is easier for blacks to communicate using a different language. I have seen positive outcomes and hostile situation defused by black's using their " home language". Which of the readings for this lesson stood out most to you? You might choose a reading because you relate to it. In any case, tell us about your reaction to this reading. The story that stuck out to me was the Dora Lopez story. This story reminds me that hard work will pay off. She proved that through hard work from her and her family that you can over come challenges. She did not have the expensive gadgets or anything like that. What do you think, currently, about the primary threshold concept for this project unit? (“Writing is impacted by prior experiences.”) What do you think it means? Have you thought about this concept before reading about it in our textbook? If so, in what terms, or in what way, have you thought about this idea? I feel that writing is impacted in a big way by our past experience's. If you went to a school that was focused on writing as a major subject, then chances are you will be good at writing. I have not really thought about this till i read this book. My past experience did not really get me ready to be a writer. My schooling was not really that focused on the writing part. Reflect on your understanding, throughout the term so far, of the term “rhetoric” and its related concepts. Provide your revised definition/understanding of the term “rhetoric” and its elements. How does rhetoric apply to you? Be specific where possible, including references to course readings, examples, or other information to support your ideas. Before i took this class, I had never heard of the term Rhetoric. Now I know and have a good understanding of the word. Doug Downs compared rhetoric to the term, gravity. There can be so many meanings for this term, it can mean the interaction between two people. Now that I know what the term is, I can see how i use it everyday. I use it at work when I am training people their skill set they will need. I can see it now when i interact with fellow believer's when we are sharing God's message. Thanks to this class i know have a new way to look at how I interact with other people.

When was it? What were you taught? 1.Can you imagine a case where a person (or group of people collectively) is simultaneously a rhetor and an audience for the same rhetorical situation? Have you ever been that rhetor-audience? Please share your story or imagined scenario. Alternatively, share why you think this is an impossible situation. When I first read this question, I will be honest, I have never heard of this. I know I must be living under a rock. The very first time I ever read a Blog was in this class, its also the first time I ever wrote a Blog. What do you think, currently, about the primary threshold concept for this project unit? (“Good” writing is dependent on writers, readers, situation, technology, and use.”) What do you think it means? Have you thought about this concept before reading about it in our textbook? If so, in what terms, or in what way, have you thought about this idea?         Good writing to me is being able to hold the reader's attention long enough for them to finish what was written. Having the right technology could help with this, adding pictures into the story or using different fonts. Usually when I write my evaluation, I think about how can I grab the attention of my boss.
