Answer question 5 from page 170 of Writing About Writing (at the end of Young’s argument against code switching): “Young argues that asking black students to use a different language at school than they do at home is a form of racial segregation. Explain this argument.” Do you agree? Why or why not? I will say that i agree with his point. From my experiences with this, not in school but at work, sometimes it is easier for blacks to communicate using a different language. I have seen positive outcomes and hostile situation defused by black's using their " home language". I also think that in schools it need to be taught, but there needs to be a understanding on it from all parties involved, weather its the students or teachers.
